I get dehydrated quite easily, especially when hiking with a heavy pack or pushing myself a bit more than usual. The key is to take breaks, remind yourself to eat, breath, and drink enough.
Agree that all of the above can be associated with h/a's. If it is hypoglycemia it should not occur if you are eating and drinking regularly and if it does, should resolve rapidly with the ingestion of an easily absorbed energy drink, gu or similar substance. If it is low sodium or dehydration it would seem that you could find a regimen of food and drink (with enough experimentation) which would prevent it from happening.
Do you get the h/a's at other times as well? Severe h/a's and vomitting are often signs of migraines or other medical problems. There are preventive and abortive treatments available for many of them. I would suggest that you consult your physician to address these possibilities.
My cardiologist recommended to me that I dring Gatorade when I have the flu, or exercise vigorously. I have cardiac irregularities and can go into a rapid rhythm even with my meds. When I follow her advice I have no problem and feel great. In fact my friend and I climbed in the Presidentials for 3 consecutive days using gatorade and power bars only. We did have breakfast and supper in the high huts. Felt great. Lots of energy.
I recently started drinking Smart Water at the gym and on day hikes. Thus far i† appears to work as well as gatorade but I have not put it to the ultimate test yet.
First I conquer the sickness, now I'm scared......Maddy in the second paragraph of your post, the sentence beginning 'Thus far it...' the 't' looks like a cross. Am I the only one who is seeing it that way or will they be coming to take me away haha hehe hoho?
....Jade
Jade....I noticed that as well but my computer is very old and I don't know how that happened. It does look like a "cross". You had better drink up. This could be a "sign"!
