David, you can also click the little '#58' in the upper right hand corner of the post, and that will show you only Jay's single post.

We'll try to be on time for breakfast! :D

Other notes:

I'm probably carpooling with some local friends (not on VfTT) so my outback wont be there, but my friend has an older outback..

Parking, going away from the Ashoken reservoir, I plan on trying to park at the second parking area you come across after you pass "moffett" field (I never remember the name). Right by the bridge, there is a signed field on the right, then a 1/4 mile later should be a small parking lot on the right. Another 1/4 mile should be a larger gravel parking lot with a kiosk there. That's where I plan on parking and finding a tentsite. they're close to the road so if we have a fire going, it should be obvious.

Saturday night, I propose we perhaps go over to Phoenicia and have dinner at Brios or so. We'll split into small groups since we might finish at different times. (the Van Wyck guys and the folks doing Friday/BC and such).

My friends and I are going to Sundown by noon and we'll set up tents and if we have time, go over to Ashoken HP and do a short hike then... We will be cooking at the campsite on friday night when we return. I have a yellow/grey Walrus Zoid 2.0 that I'll be using...

Jay

Jay, I guess I'll be seeing you on Friday... I have a green Eureka dome tent myself and an orange Ford Focus hatchback...

See you then.
Kevin

I'll bring along some pancake mix and some real syrup...

Kevin

I think I can now get away for Friday night and Sat.hiking. Leave a light on. Its the middle area , right?
And I'll start baking, Do pancakes qualify as "cake"?

Thx Tom, I should have asked that question a looong time ago....temps look like low 20's at night, real feel low teens to single digits...breaking out the 0F bag since it's car camping...

I will leave NYC around 2:30 and get to exit 19 around 5pm then follow Jay's directions....probably will pull into the campground 6 if I can spot those little street signs...

I'm bringing a gas stove for cooking, it's not a grill but if you want to fry something or boil stuff just go ahead and use it...also if u want to make a pot of coffee, just bring up a pot and fire it up...i'm not a coffee drinker...I'm going to heat up dinner Fri night and was going to make pancakes but it sounds like others are doing that also....the more the merrier....anyone interested in bagels?

Going to pack up, good to have "my" time...

What should we all bring for breakfast ?

Any interest in a group effort buffet or something similar friday night ?

Ditto ... we can bring something too. Another friend of ours is coming and has a grill we can put over a fire if we want to grill burgers or something Friday night. We can bring something for breakfast as well.

Can someone make sure they bring along a frypan/gridle? The only thing I have to make pancakes on is a small frypan that is the lid to a cookset, we will be making pancakes for a loooooooong time using that thing! If you have the same thing, the frypan lid for your cookset, make sure you have it.

I picked up a couple of those Bisquick bottle o' pancake mix, just add water, but without know how many folks are going to show up, I only got two a large one and a small one...

Catch you all this weekend...
Kevin

Last chance for bagels?....will check thread around 6am then it's off to work....don't blame me for the "poppy seed bagels"

I'll take an "everything". I've got 2 different kinds of smoked salmon in the cooler. Someone needs to bring cream cheese. I'm PACKED ! Fire wood, marinating steak tips, fresh veggies to stir fry, rice, beer...ARE WE THERE YET ???

Oh yeah, looking forward to the hiking too !

Ralph,

Was really looking forward to hiking BC and Friday with you guys but a couple of things came up.
Maybe again later this month or next. A few of us would like to do Lone and Rocky another weekend.

We have 5 right now for the Friday/BC hike. Meeting time is between 8:30 and 9am on Moonhaw. Hope to see everyone doing the Van Wyck hike sometime Saturday .... late afternoon, ...... Sean and I willl be stopping by Sundown post-hike.

Rob

I'm confused Jay, no drinking for you, but poppy seeds? I gave that up in the early 80's..

I'll see if I can "steal" the cream cheese away from the kids...gotta go to work now...safe driving...

I gather none of you guys did the 6-pack... Friday, BC, Rocky, Lone, Table, and Peekamoose? I left a big X at the summit of Table (where the canister was) as per Mudhook's suggestion...
