A group of us are going to hike Moosilauke Sat Jun 6 and would like the challenge of the Beaver Brook ascent with a lesser descent (via car spotting). Any suggestions for an interesting and/or best route down?
Thanks

The closest car spot would probably be the Benton trail. Benton has the advantage of being very easy on the knees. It's not really steep and it's relatively smooth under foot. The traffic on that trail is also relatively light and it's in pretty good condition right now. Lauky and I just did it Saturday.

The Gorge Brook trailhead is not that much farther and it is a very pretty trail especially along the brook. Most of it is fairly smooth under foot, although the old logging road is rough. For the same trailhead I personally would pick the Gorge Brook over the Carriage and Snapper although if you head that way you can pick up the south peak.
