Great link and sobering. Certainly puts it in relative perspective. Especially looking a the extrapolation of the numbers over decades. I guess we really did have more snow and colder temperatures when I was a kid.
 
During the recovery of the Generator Fire of 2003 I seem to recall that some of the trenching work at the summit encountered Permafrost. Is my memory faulty in that recollection? I was a volunteer member of the AMC Construction crew that gutted much of the interior of the original Tip Top House back in the mid 80s and remember wondering about that back then.
 
What are they using for the baseline data? The write up cites data going back to 1932, but the chart shows 1935. New England had some really weird winters in the 1930s.
