How many people remember when the Symbols of the Aetherians were painted on the summit rock of our good old Mt Adams, NH?

I don't remember it from 1960 but from one of the later visits

> Prior to making any pilgrimages to the Holy Mountains, please contact
> The Aetherius Society at the nearest location to yourself.

Perhaps sli74 should suggest this to her friend :)

I can't remember seeing them, but did remember them this summer when out at Mt. Shasta, another mountain of interest to that society of believers.

Aetherian Symbol?

A painted symbol on the Star Lake Trail on Mt Adams. It is believed that this symbol, though not an exact duplicate of the Aetherian symbol, was painted by the Aetherians on one of their pilgrimages to the mountain. The painting appears to be weathered and defaced. This photo was taken in Aug 2001.

I met one these guys in a black cloak chanting atop Mount Adams on a hot August late afternoon in 1964; he offered me part of his black-fly-covered P&J sandwich, which I politely declined. We still had to visit Madhouse, where we refilled our water bottles, and the summit of Madison, before making our way back to Tucks where our sleeping gear was located. Needless to say, our hike up the Raymond Path in the dark after almost getting run over by a speeding race car (driver training for the hill climb the next day?) was a thrash, and I attribute our suvival to positive vibes betowed upon us by the Aetherian. :)

When I clicked on the link Tom provided, and read the webpage, my initial reaction is something like "what an odd grouping of mountains which people climb for unusual reasons" and then I thought - "Wait - that's us! They're peakbaggers, too! Same church, different pew".

Lots of us climb mountains with others for fellowship and shared spiritual connections. Looks like the Aetherians are more open about acknowledging that connection.

It's all good.
