I save the whole images from the UNH site and then use IrfanView, you select an area & hit Ctrl-Y to crop.

These ring-dike HP are the most prominent points in their county but NOT the county HP

Incidentally, MSPaint which comes with Windows has a crop feature for making map cutouts
