Planning to stay at Lafayette Place 9/26 or 9/27?

As Mats has mentioned, his schedule has him in Franconia Notch on the 27th and 28th, and he plans to stay at Lafayette Place campground on Sat the 27th. I am willing to coordinate getting campground reservations, but need to know how many people are coming. This campground is tricky to use, since there are no group sites and they are very restrictive. Each site is limited to two tents and four adults. They only allow one site reservation per person, and the person whose name is on the reservation has to be the one to check in.

If you're planning to stay at the campground and want to camp as part of a VFTT group, please contact me and let me know that you are coming and whether you'll be there Fri & Sat or just Sat. If you're willing to sponsor a site, let me know that too and I'll get back to you if we need to add more space based on the responses to this post. We've got a couple of sites already reserved and there is currently availability to add adjoining sites.

I think today's the deadline for making a reservation, so the sooner I hear from you the better. Thanks!

Thanks Rebecca.......I'll do my best to get there.....the weather forecast looks very promising.

What's good is we'll have a bunch of people to help you set up the party tent. I imagine you're gonna be sick of setting it up and breaking it down every day for like a week straight!

I am planning on going up Thursday 9/25 and hiking with him until Saturday evening. I am looking for a ride from Lafayette to Lincoln Woods to pick up my car if anyone is interested.

Almost as fun as heli-hiking but no views...at least not from my office......

Go Mats!! :D

The trouble with all this fascinating technology is that I always want it to do more. So when I click on the little circles on the map I'm disappointed that I don't get a clip of Mats hiking along and talking to us.

hey ......I'm here.....made it about 4 miles on route 2.....at Jefferson campground close to 115/2 intersection.....tough day....pack is kind of heavy.....cooking chicken breasts and mashed potatoes.....at&t reception good...lovely weather......JasonPatrik was with me....ran into adventurer on the way down Cabot....no other hikers....starting at 6 tomorrow.....don't want to hike on route 2 in the dark....mats

Questions

The speed definitely seems off. Is the elevation pretty accurate? It seems to be. What are the straight lines? Triangulation?

EDIT: Just read Jason's post which explains straight lines.

Congrats on the attempt and making the right decision, Mats. On Saturday, I caught up with a large group at the foot of BCT on a Bonds-Hale traverse and kept up pretty well until the LAH trail junction above Zool hut, where I decided to take the easier route out while most of the others continued over Hale. I felt lucky to hike as far as I did, with the hope that there will more opportunities later.

Mats.. wicked proud of you dude! It was awesome hiking Jefferson-Adams-Madison with you. What a beautiful day it was. Hope we didn't annoy you too much with our lame jokes, terrible sing-alongs and our pet moth named Sally. :D
