Snow Depth Map and Measurements

TrailsNH has provided a snow report for hikers for years, and I've just updated it. You can find the Snow Report on TrailsNH under the Information menu or go directly to:

The new report still includes actual snow depth measurements, which I graph as they come in to show the trend. Currently, everything is trending downwards.



New this winter, the actual measurements are mapped on top of the estimated Snow Depth Map from NOAA. This map is derived from ground, aerial, and satellite observations. The data is collected daily, and the map is re-modeled several times a day at 6 AM, noon, 8 PM, and midnight.



On top of the snow base layer map, I've added a roadway and topo/contour layer to help you recognize the location.



NOAA's estimated snow depth layer is divided into 1-kilometer by 1-kilometer grid squares.

I really like the snow depth graphs at the various sites. It will really help figuring out where to go.
