I used to help out the boy scouts in the area make Christmas Wreaths, our main source of supply was Success Pond Road. We frequently would be out on the side of the road the first couple weekends of hunting season. It was pretty crazy on the road. Lots of traffic driving far faster than they should. Plenty of gunshots during the day. We were used to it, but for those with a high level of sensitivity to hunting, it may not be the place to go.
Keep in mind aobut 1/3 of the road is in Maine so if you want relatively quiet conditions go on Sunday (when Maine doesnt hunt) on the Maine side of the road. I believe the Notch trail and the Success Pondtrail are entirely in Maine.
