I know of some manufacturers of supplements that do follow cGMP guidelines. Herbal supplements can be the most problematic. for example making St Johswort, the main constitunt hypericin is found inthe buds of the plant just before it blooms. Many herbal preps have roots, stems, leaves etc which is just intert filler. Know your company.
From what I have seen from the clinical trials the palcebo group reported a very high positive result. Also the pain index was not well defined any many of the patients enrolled had mild pain to begin with. The cohort with the greast result was taking the two together.
