Temperatures in a tent

We were camping in PA, doing a white water rafting/25mile bike weekend one summer. When we got back to our site, the tent was boiling inside even though my tent was in the shade, my tent fly is yellow, you'd figure it would be cooler. My pack was inside and the little thermometer read 110°. It was just a hot summer and no matter what you had or did it was H.O.T... hot. I slept under the stars that night in my underwear sweating my acorns off, feeding the mosquetos.
