Congratulations Artex! I had an awesome time on this hike despite the humid and hot weather. Glad to meet some of you for the first time on this hike and see everyone else again. There were so many cameras that day I only took few shots, but here are my pictures from the day.

Does any one know what mountain this is? I’m pretty sure I took it from the fire platform on Carrigain. I’d like to know what it is I was looking at.

I believe you're actually looking at Northwest Hancock... you can see the headwall of the Crystal Ravine culminating in the summit of NW Hancock with another bump further north along the ridge.

Good picture -- I think I missed this one last time I was on Carrigan!

Congrats

Jamie -

Again, real sorry I could not be there. Sounds like a great day and it was real nice that so many others came to join you. I like your list at the end of the report - I agree on Zealand...glad I hit that one as part of a traverse; it would have been very dissapointing to just hit that one in a day hike!

CONGRATULATIONS!! :)

Artex: Well done! Let the adventures begin!

Zealand? You'll learn to love it once you get to stop on a quiet afternoon (or evening) and just listen to the wind blow softly through the trees. I have no idea why, but it is one of my favorites. It's a great peak to spend a winter night on!

I've only done Zealand once. Here are some of my impressions:

1. The Twinway Ridge over from Zeacliff to Zealand imo was very pretty with some nice outlooks. Zeacliff is outrageous but also there is that little rock hump along the way which I thought was very attractive as were the beautiful woods along the ridge.

2. The side path to Zealand Peak, I thought was charming as was the Zealand Mountain Sign. Also, there were some sneak peak views along this path. Nothing spectacular but I thought I saw a thing or two.

3. Zealand with a good snowpack may have better views. Someone posted a picture. I would really love to do the Fire Warden's Road to Hale > Zeacliff > Zealand > Guyot > Twin loop in the winter. I bet the views increase significantly. Save that one for a good day. There's a little extra walking to do but the trail becomes much easier with the soft snow and no more rock hopping.

4. I did not enjoy the Twinway from Zealand to Guyot. I thought it was rough and tiresome. Though Guyot was impressive. I thought the Twinway between Zeacliff and Zealand was much prettier than the Twinway between Guyot and South Twin.

It's not the greatest but, I thought, and enjoyable peak nonetheless.
