My pleasure. Thanks for the trail conditions report on Israel. We didn't go this afternoon but will go first thing on Wednesday morning if it isn't storming.
Thanks for the snow update and thanks for the greenie! I wouldn't have wanted to be sloggin' across Wildcat Ridge in snow that consistency. Maybe it was firmer further north, but it sucked in the Ossipees, especially on the way out!
As long as calendar winter is over, Pawtuckaway would be great. Pick a date and we'll do an invite. I'd like to hike the circumference of the ring dike. Probably about 7-8 miles. Goes through the Boulder Field and Devil's Den and over North and South Pawtuckaway. I can send directions to the Reservation Road entrance.
thanks, Jeremy -- and as I wrote, your Franconia Ridge post is wonderful. I need to wait before I can send you any more green squares, so in the meantime I am sending one via mental powers...
Hello!
Thanks for the green square!
BTW, yesterday brought me up to 16 WNH4ks, and #16 for NH48x2. Neat coincidence. Carter Dome Wx2.
Hope you have a great day! Thanks for joining us!
Don't think of it as a road walk. The parking area is just a little further away from the trailhead at this time of year. And, you get a nice, mild warm-up in the morning and a cool-down lap in the afternoon. Walking along the Sawyer River Road under the stars is really nice and the Saturday forecast is for a very low percentage of cloud cover.
We're putting a group together for this Saturday to Carrigain. The forecast for the day looks terrific. It should be a great time. Come join the fun if you can.
Isolation finally, eh?! Bravo! Hey, if you don't like the branches in your face, I have the Mt. Isolation to Mt. Davis section of the Davis Path available for adoption! How about it? Taking out your frustration on those pesky branches sounds like a good deal!
I especially liked your charging pic because it reminded me of a similar experience on the AT in Maine northbound coming down from N. Crocker in August.
There was a yellowjackets nest in a log beside the trail 30 yards ahead. I had stopped at a sign on the trail someone had put down to assess routes around it. All of a sudden a crashing comes from up ahead beside the trail near the log, the undergrowth was very thinck. A moose comes firing out of the hobblebush and charging towards me! My heart dropped then quickly turned to run for it with a full pack on. Just as I turn, the moose jumps back off the trail and off into the woods just as fast as he appeared. I assume he was getting attacked by the bees flying all around they're log. When the others I was with caught up to me I still looked like I'd seen a ghost.
I was amazed of it's speed and how quick it happened. Cheers.
