Sli,

We have 3 pairs of alpine skis that we are not using and will be selling when we get our act together .. two are fairly short (the twins old skis)
and one pair that are very nice and my size (although I grew up on lonnnng alpine skis, so they still seem shorter to me). Let me know if you want to try any of these out.

I always watch tele skiers with envy, but I also wonder what it would do to my knees. After a week of alpine skiing at Sugarbush (lots of powder and hours of practice skiing bumps), I could barely walk downstairs. I wouldn't want to put more pressure on my knees!

Anywho.. I think it's great you are getting out there with your sis!

Depends on your knees and your technique. Some find one easier on the knees and some find the other easier on the knees.

As one who uses tele gear, I can make parallel or tele turns as I choose. What I find hardest on my knees is torquing the skis around for short parallel turns (twists the knee)--carving a nice rounded turn (parallel or tele) is much easier on my knees.

I also avoid the bumps. :)
