Please bear with me while I ramble...for the past several months I've been nursing an injured shoulder SLOWLY back to health. A month ago my PT gave me permission to return to hiking small mountains w/ no weight or a low weight backpack. So I've been doing North and South Pack Monadnock weekly and will increase distances, intensity, and weight carried as my shoulder can handle it. Believe me, I'm being careful as I want to move forward with healing and not lose the ground I've gained! My goal is to return to Isolation in August. I've done it twice before and I am very confident that I can reach that goal.
Here's the reason for THIS post: my daughter wants to take a trip to Seattle WA in mid to late Aug to check out the Univ of WA as a potential grad school. And yes, I immediately thought, "Cool! While we're out there, we can go hiking in the Olympic Peninsula!" The last time I was there was DECADES ago, as in before my daughter was even a thought, never mind an embryo. Now she's 21! So it's been a while...I remember the rain forest was pretty cool. Besides that, what else do those of you who have hiked that area recommend? Keep in mind I'll be able to (and probably will have) hike(d) Isolation by then, and my daughter can handle about 7-10 miles depending on the steepness of the trails. So what trails should we check out? Any other advice? THANKS!!! So excited....
