Did I mention I reserved a PRIVATE room??? By Saturday night I probably won't care if the floor is covered with people!

Jay, count Steve and myself in for the hike.

We're interested in camping as well (what do we need to do to reserve spots/pay?).

We're driving from the Hudson Valley (~ Poughkeepsie) and have room for two in our car if anybody is interested in carpooling.

Hey Kathy, great, I've added you to the list, as far as camping goes, I'm trying to see if we can somehow get campground#4 at Cherry Mountain Road, north of Crawford Notch somehow for us. It's a huge site and would be enough for most of us to fit, the only thing is the car thing. Can't have more than 2 cars there, and last year the rangers were very strict about that. Maybe we can try to talk them into allowing us a little more leeway this time.. don't know.

I've compiled an excel spreadsheet of everybody who responded to this thread, even if you said maybe. So I will try to email everybody the attachment so as to gather full names, phone numbers, etc. etc. As it gets closer, I will update it to those who can or can't make it. In this way, I will make copies and give them out to the volunteers so we can keep track of who is still hiking and the like, as well as contact information before the hike and also for emergency situations. So far, I've got 33 total hikers/volunteers.

Please add me to the list of maybes. If I can get in enough long hikes in the next few months to prepare for it I'll be happy to join in!

any hellacopter fan needs to come - you don't have to do the entire thing - this is more about hanging with folks and having fun after the hike.

Hey Pedxing, I saw that, completely unexpected and thanks!

Feel free to post it everywhere that is legal and not against the boards rules. I stick to boards I'm fairly active in and where it's appropriate, not about to register to a forum just to post the hike/donations cause I would be equally suspicious of somebody doing that on VfTT, and of course, it's now against forum rules. But if you are active and know the board well, feel free to post it.

I get a lot of donations from where I work but most of them don't do it online, it's there for exactly the kind of donations from friends who you don't see often or like to get some points from doing it. aka from your REI visa card ;)

Hmmm.... A good friend had brain surgery this past year and is doing well. You just never know.

Dang, it sure is early in the season for a big hike like this (for those of us who ski all winter)! I'll keep it in mind and watch this thread.

Hi Folks, I have started making a spreadsheet for contact and emergency information, I have filtered this thread for interested participants and like I did last two times, I have given volunteers a copy of this sheet so they can figure out who is still hiking, who has bailed, etc. etc. Many of you I know and some of you I don't so those that are NOT on this list, either I have your full name and contact information or you can't make it and have stated on this thread. The rest of you who I do see, I either have forgotten your last name or haven't met you yet (Alligator Eggs! :)), could you email me or PM me (email preferred lest my inbox explode) your full name and email contact (unless it's different from the one you email me with). If you want or not, you can email me a cell phone contact number too. Not your home phone cause hiking wise, that isn't any good, unless you happen to live in the presidential range (and if so, you'll have a ton of VfTTrs crashing your place shortly!) Oh, and if you don't see your name on the list and know that you are interested (this list is by no means final and you can surely just show up too, but I'm trying to have some kind of organization here), please post here or email me with the above information and I'll add you to the list.

June 17th, rain or shine!

So, it looks like I won't be making it to this event. I will hopefully still be doing a Presi traverse one of the 2 weekends prior to this trip and will still raise money and donate it to TBTS so count me in for the fundraising and I will be with you in spirit for the hike.

BTW, the weekend of June 10-11 is a full moon :D that would be fun !!!

Ahhh, Seema, :( Boohoo, you must come down to Jersey then... As a veteran (survivor?) of 2 of my previous events, sorry you can't make this one, especially since it's now much closer to you than the catskills (no more midnight skirmishes with Weird Rangers ;) )..... Well maybe next year!

To everybody else, once I get emails and names and stuff, I will email everybody privately to set up my distribution list, if you do not get an email from me, then I don't have your information so send them, but I imagine the collecting of names and stuff will take a few days, it usually does.

Jay,

Would like to join in. However, at the moment I'm a maybe. My daughter is getting married June 30th so pre arrangement activities might take
priories.

Jay,
I'm going to have to back out on this one...sorry! I would have liked to join the group and meet you that day, but I am going to be leading a hike up Mt. Madison (just Mt. Madison!) that day for a different fundraiser, Wilderness Heals. Another time perhaps!

Jay,
Some specifics re: CMR.
Get 2-3 sites, and get them early. Each site has a maximum occupancy of 15 people and 3 cars. No exceptions (though I have seen groups of 30, with leaders there, so there may be some preferential treatment for some organizations). I agree that #4 is a good one for a central location, with the smaller site inmmediately downhill as a good smaller site (can hold about 4 small tents), but secures parking for 3 cars. No reservations are allowed.

I will be in the area, hopefully doing some sort of hike, and can help out on logistics, re: shuttling. Shizzy is your best bet for securing 2 sites, and might be able to help you out with getting up there early. I may take that Friday off, but is is highly doubtful as 2 members of our development team are off (one ending a vaca, the other starting).

What makes this location so good for a traverse is that it is very central: 30 minutes to either end of the hike. I might suggest that if you have many signing up, you turn this into a "tagteam" hike: 1/2 start one direction, the other from the other direction, and you tag off as you pass :). This makes spotting cars way easier!

Hey Paul, so far Giggy has offered to spot a hike. I'll have to talk to Sean, at this point, he hasn't even said anything about even being interested in coming, but I know he isn't on VfTT that much, I'll email him.

Carol and I will probably be flying in on Friday, she and I both have that day off, she also says she might have one of her friends coming along and if we do, we might just rent a car and travel up together rather than the SherpaTaxi. Then perhaps we can try to get a campsite at CMR. and Guy can try to get #4. What about Israel Ridge Campground as far as a group site, just as a Plan B. We should have a plan B if for some reason all the larger campsites are taken. I have talked to HikeThe115 too so we might have her space for obviously LIMITED folks.

If Carol and I have a car, I would like to actually start at Crawford Notch and go up Jackson->Webster->Eisenhower up to Mt Washington cause I've done the presi (and Pierce/Clinton) already but I can do Webster and Jackson this year...

I'll poll the participants on who wants to go N->S and those that want to go S->N.. but after I get the emails...

Still waiting for names and contact information on the following:

Mike P Mike
Mr X
SteveHiker Steve
MadRiver
MEB
keb
Lawn Sale
Artex Jaime
seeker
Ridgewalker

I like to get those folks email address before I send out a mass-PM, then the real organization can start!!! :)

Jay,

You might want to send a PM to the people you still need information from. You can send a message to 5 of them at a time, if I'm not mistaken. They may not be keeping up with this thread since the event itself it still so far out there.

FWIW, I'd like to do this from N->S. I'd much rather be strolling along the Southern Presis at the end of the day than be rock hopping in the Northern Presis at the end. Maybe I can do it in either direction. Maybe I can't. Maybe I could do a flip-flop! :D I'd like to hedge my bet though and plan to just head on south. I think this will greatly increase my chances of makin' it to my goal... Willard!:D

What?!? No one's up for a post traverse hike??;)

I am taking friday out - and plan to be up there in the early afternoon - (if you guys get an early flight, I can get you and we can be at CMR pretty early) I can touch base with shizzmac and we can get the spots, I can bring an extra tent and pitch it there.

I am sure people will be starting at all different times - I am going to start early, so I can finish early and have a couple of cold ones before before nightfall. and I don't want to be running this thing just to get it over with esp if weather is good. - plan to take my time, and allow for some good ole talk and convo on the trail.
