I'll be taking off Friday as well and can easily be up there in the morning to grab a spot if necessary. Not familiar with the area but if you need me to do so them just yell.

Guy- when you say early, how early is early? Your sentiments are the same as mine, but my speed is likely not so I plan on leaving REAL early :D

Hmm, sounds like Jay and I will have no problems getting picked up at the airport. Are flight times can range from leaving at 7am to leaving at 11am. Flight time is about 1 1/2 hours. If there is an extra tent to be used that would eliminate hauling one from home but I have no problem bringing along a tent. As always, I will require a stop to pick up some diet pepsi. Can't help it. I 'm addicted.

You are firing on all cylinders on this one: Sean always has the SeanMahal and he is also addicted to diet Pepsi. You two are a match made in h...

tuco - I thinking 3am probably if I head up the howker ridge.

Dax - I have an older LLbean micro light that works well - your welcome to it - though in all day rain (like last year) - it has leaked a bit - but not much

Good, so if Carol and I can get an early flight, perhaps Tuco or whoever gets there first can grab site #4 and the second can grab the next largest site. I should have a better headcount by May I would hope so we know how many folks to expect. And we have an alternate place of lodging for a couple but certainly not all of us.

Jay, take my advice: grab #4 and #3. You don't need space: you need parking spots. Site #3 is ~250 feet away from #4. You could put 2-3 tents on #3 (for light sleepers), and 15 people on #4 with no issues.

Also: I suspect that Roy and Josie would have no issues with allowing use of their showers for the day fee again. $3 is worth it, considering the camping on CMR is free.

The sites go quickly... once real summer starts (July on), you are likely to be shut out until Labor Day. This time of year they are usually available (site #3 is arguably the most popular)

Is there an issue with overnight parking at the Highlands Center... big lot, probably manned enough to dissuade theft issues, it is the logical end of the hike.

I have a PM from JasonST where we may be able to utilize a 15-person van so shuttling is hopefully convienient. We just need some cars at the Cog for the bailout point and if we have another one somewhere else... I'm not as familiar with good bailouts as most of you, so I defer to the expertise, but I know we had a car at the Cog railway for the Ammo Rav trail when Sherpa and I were there last year..

Whoever gets there first can claim #4 and #3!

I Won The Lotto!

Sorry guys, I'm out. I just found out I've been picked in the lotto to run the Mt. Washington Road Race on June 17th. Perhaps I'll run into you guys up there (pun intended). :D

Congrats! Good luck on the run!

are you going celebrate (and by celebrate - I mean doing some drinkin) that night?

Wow, thanks guys! I'm planning on hiking down afterwards, so I can count it as another summit on the ole rockpile. :D :D :D

As for brew ha has... it definitely tastes so much better after a kick arse day, so yeah, I think so!

Have fun on the pressie traverse. Wish I could make it, but this is just too cool of an opportunity to pass up. :)

Hey, man. I don't think anyone could blame you for taking a powder on this one. Ya gotta do your own thang. What an opportunity! If I don't see you up there, hopefully I'll see you afterwards. Either way, don't bogart all the ice cream sandwiches!!! :D

Congrats Jamie, if you hang around the summit long enough, I'm sure you'll run into some of us. However, having been there last year, it looks that most of the runners are typically in a mad rush to change out of their wet clothes, get something hot to eat and hurry on down. I know last year the summit of Washington was wet, cool, and misty, not something to stand around and hang out!

Let me know your number and I'll spread it to the VfTT cheering crew. Maybe you can bring up the ice cream too... :) ya know, pull a wagon, that kind of thing...

On the Escarpment Trail last year, it began raining at 5:29PM...I finished at 5:31PM...I plan to have the same luck this year!!! :p
