Another thought....Jay, as $1-$2 may (emphasis on 'may') get you plenty to eat at Madison Spring Hut, do you think it would be prudent to let the AMC croo know of our plans to ensure plenty of leftovers/high energy snacks available for all of us stopping in? I intend to pack light..........

Madison would be fairly early in the day for a huge meal... but then again, Mt Washington will probably be packed full of the runners (it was when I got there last year, hard to find a place to sit!).

Perhaps lake of the clouds would be a good place for food cause it's late in the hike, and you're pretty much commited at that point to do the whole thing...

Jay

Yes, Jay, I agree that Lakes might be the better option for food. I'll volunteer to contact AMC if you, as our trusted leader, give me the go ahead....

A group 'no rain' dance may be in order giggy...

2 thoughts for the price of 1!

1.) Contacting da' Lakes croo is a good idea. I have a friend who will be working there on croo this summer and she has asked me to send her an email reminding her of what day I'll be paying her a visit. I can relay any additional info to her.

2.) This may even be worthy of a second thread (we'll see how discussion progresses). I was thinking that we ought to have some sort of physical identifier that way we know when we see others on the trail that are doing this. I don't want to be screaming "Alligator Eggs!" at every person I pass or at evveryone on Washington!

I was thinking that we could either write something on a white handkerchief and pin it to our packs or come up with some other obvious sign. Since many people are planning on starting at different times and from different places, I think we need something!

I have an idea, all those participating in the Pound the Presis will receive a foot rub from Double Bow...we can then each wear a foot on the back of our packs following the half hour rub down to show that we are part of the group!! :D

DB, if you contact your friend and I contact AMC, I think that will ensure enough goodies are available.....

As far as ID'ing other VfTT.. Well, first suggestion is to all kind of hang out at CMR, though some people will be staying elsewhere..

However, I have a VfTT shirt (green short sleeves) that I'll probably wear, but one can simply print out a VfTT logo and laminate it with clear packing tape. Put that on your shoulder strap and it would be visible to hikers in front of you.. Or you can all wear devil horns, however, since it isn't the Devil's Path, you will have to be able to explain yourself to others..

Perhaps we can all wear Abe Lincoln hats since it's in the pressies.

I will not be attending this great event, but I want to be a little creative and supportive of the great BTS cause so... instead of sponsoring a particular hiker I will make a small contribution and support the entire VFTT group and will donate $2 for every participant on this outing regardless whether they finish or not. I look forward to getting the report when it comes out.

Thanks Aaron, can I conscript people along the trail? ;)

I hear there is some kind of run-up-mt. washington-on-the-auto-road event that day. Maybe I can get every runner to join us. :D

Jay

Hi Jay,

I want to confirm that you have me on this hike?! I am getting excited for my first Presi traverse. :D

Do I need to do anything about camping? It sounds like that is being taken care of... I am happy to help with logistics, please let me know what I can do.

Giggy - definitely up for some drinks after :)

Hanna

Hanna, Nope, but I will add you now! Thanks. I have your email address (because of Ed's rainier trip). Can you PM/email me a cell number. I put together a spreadsheet with folks contact number just in case we need to try to call you at the event or after.

Matt would be exlcuded form the Abe Hats. He can wear his jaunty beret. :D Don't forget about the powered wigs ala george washington.

How 'bout coon skin caps? Davy Crockett served in Congress with Henry Clay! 'sides, Lincoln's a bit out o' tha way fer this trip!

Stead o' powdered wigs, how 'bout powdered doughnuts? :D

How about we laminate some Sherpa K pictures or get Sherpa K buttons. If there aren't enough pictures of him here I may have a couple on my hard drive that would work including a picture he took of himself on South Twin. :D

I'd be willing to send a check to help defray some those cost.

I have decided what my hopefull plan will be - would love to have some company -

2:30-3am start - up howker ridge and down and out via webster

this depends on 4 things

1)decent weather
2) at least one partner - want some convo!
3) how much beer I drink friday
4) feeling good at peirce
